I haven't heard of any negative side effects from using folligen, though I can't speak for any of the other copper peptide solutions. Some people report that using folligen with minoxodil turns thier scalp green (though it rinses out). I just started using folligen,(no minox) and my scalp feels pretty good. Folligen also has aloe in it which is very good for your skin in general. I use the folligen spray.

Some people have problems with the strong copper peptide solution of Folligen stinging their scalp after application. If this happens, the solution can be diluted. In any case, the stinging should decrease with continued use. I do not know about long term side effects.

PLEASE PLEASE READ MY EXPERIENCE WITH FOLLIGEN UNDER 'FOLLIGEN' IN THE FEMALE HAIR CARE SECTION!!!!!

Please read my post found under the section 'female hair care' under the topic areas - 'copper peptide', 'folligen', and 'general comments'(titled bad experience with folligen spray). I believe I had a negative reaction to the Folligen spray, which I was using with minoxidol 2%. The reaction took about 2 months to manifest itself, but it was severe. I believe it was an allergic reaction to the folligen spray because its the only new addition to my hair care regimen in the last 6 months. I've been using minoxidol for over a year with no problems whatsoever.

I'm not trying to alarm anyone, but I think before you stick lots of topicals on your scalp you need to make sure that you do not have an overly sensitive scalp from things like scalp dermatitis or psoriasis. Within a relatively short time after starting the folligen spray, my hair began falling out in swatches in the length and under the nape of the neck; before this I had a problem with mild to moderate shedding, nothing too major. When I noticed swatches of long dark hair coming out in the shower and visible hair missing in the back of the head I got myself to a dermatologist asap (I have lots of hair missing to the point where it looks like a bald spot will be forming soon). He put me on a topical corticosteroid and said I was suffering from a very bad scalp inflammation that is causing my hair loss.

My scalp is still raw, red, inflammed, painful and burning. He said it would take a while to subside and for the hair loss to stop. Obviously, I've stopped the folligen; while on Folligen, I was losing about 300 - 350 hairs a day; now I'm down to between 100 - 200 a day (still too much). This obvious decrease in shedding leads me to believe almost 100% of this problem was caused or at least exacerbated by the folligen spray.

I am not trying to alarm anyone or dissuade anyone from using folligen; perhaps I have an overly sensitive scalp and I think before using a topical we all need to keep this in mind. What troubled me the most was the horrible way the salesman from Folligen treated me when I called about my problem and inquired about getting a refund. I offered to incur the expense of returning the unused portion of the spray via mail (which was more than half the bottle) and the salesman refused and told me that my personal allergies are not the company's problem and Folligen has been tested on the most allergic people in the world so I am lieing. He then proceeded to basically accuse me of trying to rip the company off by wanting to use their products without paying for them. This is truly ridiculous because if I wanted to rip them off I'd aim higher than a measely $29 bottle of spray.

He then proceeded to abruptly and rudely hang up on me. I called back twice more and he hung up on me both times. On the third try I asked him his name and he said 'okay' and slammed the phone down in my ear. To say the least, this is extremely unprofessional and rude behavior.

Please use caution in buying Folligen products because they will not offer you a money-back guarantee no matter what the circumstance and the salesman will hang up on you too. I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience with this company. And no, I do not work for a competitor and I've never pushed a hair loss product. I am just someone with a hair loss problem who was treated very poorly by the Folligen company representatives and I am just letting you know of my experience so you can make an informed decision.

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

Initial irritation with folligen? Any successes?

Hi, just started using minox 5% and folligen and crinagen together about 2 weeks ago, and have experienced increased hairloss. The folligen should supposedly help to generate scalp health, however I am experiencing stinging/burning with prolonged itching after applying the folligen spray. Anyone else finding the same? Did it go away, if so after how long? ANY SUCCESS STORIES? (please include details: applications, timeline)

Thanks all, Sam

well all i can say is that it doesnt work as far as regrowth, but it does make scalp feel better then before the product. i believe that this product is good if you are using it to help with minoxidil burn and itch. im going to keep using it. i also have been on propecia for 10 months, and just begun using rogaine. i took a saliva test 6 months into using propecia and my dht levels were that of a 55 year old man, im 24. no drop in dht. but, i just got back my second saliva test and the dht levels dropped tremendously. almost in half. i will keep you posted as far as regrowth. anyway, folligen is good for scalp dryness and itch. its the only thing that helped me as far as that.

Hi Shawna: Thanks for responding to my post. I'm so sorry to hear someone else has had such a long battle with this chronic syndrome. I would definitely not let that guy's comments get to you--he's the one with the problem. I can't image saying something like that to someone else who is obviously very much affected by something that is out of her control. Shame on him!

I guess you've tried just about everything out there--like I have. The only thing I haven't tried is Propecia but if I'm still suffering from this in 10 years I'll find a doctor to prescribe it. Some doctors will do it if you're post-menapausal (I may be by then). Hopefully this horrible condition will have reversed itself. Mine was brought on by childbirth and then going back on the pill afterwards. No one else in my family has this condition so I have made the self-diagnosis that it's TE (I've been to all sorts of doctors and had all the tests--they think it's in my mind!). I'm now taking demulen BCP, folic acid, multi-vitamin, saw palmetto, MSM, gelatin, silica, black current oil capsules, vitamin C and calcium. I'm also using Rogaine, Crinagen and have tried Folligin lotion (it made my scalp itchy so I'm stopping it--it's also so gooey!). I've been on the vitamin/herb regimen for about 5 months, the Crinagen for about 3 months and Rogaine for just two weeks. I'm hoping something is going to kick in soon to stop the loss which is about 150 hairs a day (when I wash it). Fewer when I don't. What are you using? Any results yet? Try to stay positive about finding a cure. I know it's hard but I'm not going to let this ruin or run my life. I pray a lot about it and that helps. I've got a lot of blessings and am otherwise very healthy, and to me, that's what I concentrate on. Stay in touch and God bless you! -- Val

Hi Cynthia: I've tried the Folligen and am really disappointed. I used the lotion which I thought would be thin, like Crinagin or Rogaine, but it's thick and so gooey. Maybe I should have ordered the spray. But the worst part is that it makes my scalp sting and itch like crazy. I put it on before bed and I can hardly sleep. Maybe I'm putting it on too thick. I even thinned it with water and put it in a clean, empty Rogaine bottle and sprayed it in the parts in my hair. Even that made it itch. Also, every morning you have to wash it out because it's so gooey (never dries) and I don't like washing my hair every day. How are you using it so successfully? --Val

Is Folligen working for anyone?

I've been using Folligen lotion & now the spray for about a month. I am continuing to lose a good deal of hair. I just tried their shampoo & conditioner & am very disappointed. The website claims to 'close the cuticle of the hair & allow it to lie flat' and thus be more easily combed & not break off, etc, but I find my hair is as tangled as before. Just wondering if anyone out there has positive results with this product, or is it just 'great sounding science on paper' with neglible results in real life?

Folligen is working for me, I love the product. I'm using it with Minoxidil - when the two products are used in conjunction, they tend to work better, from what I've seen. I've been using it for about 3 months now, and when I did a little "test" and didn't use it for a week, I noticed much more hair loss. It does have it's downside, though. It really leaves your hair "crispy" after application, it's not cosmetically acceptable to use during the day, only at night when you can wash it out the next morning. I've taken the great suggestions of people here, and transferred it to my minoxidil bottle for easier application with the sprayer that goes more through the hair onto the scalp. It's cost effective too, I still have the bottle that I purchased three months ago, and there is still about 2 ounces left.

Folligen; Tricomin etc.

Has anyone tried Folligen (Skin biology) or Tricomin? I've been using folligen spray for about a month but my hair is still falling out. I am disappointed with folligen shampoo & conditioner as well, in that my tangled hair is still tangled & difficult to comb through. Skin biology's web site is very impressive but I'm disappointed in the way his science has been tranlated into the end product....Anyone else's experiences will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
