I have been suffering from gradual hair loss for the last 6 to 8 years. I have surfed these forums trying to figure out what is happening. I have been subjected to a lot of stress which I contributed it too. I have gone to many dermatologists who stated that I needed to face the fact that I have female pattern baldness and to start using minoxidil. Due to denial, I refused to succumb to using minoxidil in fear that it would perpetuate the loss if not increase it, if not properly diagnosed as I have read. Started noticing a pinkish hue to my scalp and itchyness at various points, possibly burning at times. Luckily I found a female dermatologist in my area who was willing to do a biopsy. The test came back as having lichen planopilaris not female pattern baldness. She stated that the treatment is different and if caught early enough and can help get this auto immune disorder under control and possibly stopped. I am now in the initial stages of trying a topical foam called Luxiq, which is a topical steroid, and doing vast research. I highly advise others to try and find a committed dermatologist who believes that biopsies are essential for accurate diagnosing. If you are having inflammation of your scalp, research this subject. I hope this helps others. |
