DOES Saw Palmetto work? (Accutane or Medications Induced Hair Loss) |
Has anyone seen that Saw Palmetto works? I already take so many things and I have just started using Nizoral which does work but I would like to get off aldactone if I can.
Any one know if this works as well as aldactone and how often I can use Nizoral. will I have to go to the 6% from the 2% over time as my body gets used to it? I used it for the last time last night and it has worked today- only one hair shed and i've been up since 6am (it's 11am now) AMAZING!
I also heard that Loreal Decros works wonders on hairloss but it is 80.00 for a month. Does anyone use it? Does it work?
Thanks

I'm taking Saw Palmetto and I noticed improvement but not the same as with Aldactone. I asked my endo if SP works as well as Aldactone but she couldn't tell because there is no any research done on that matter.
If you want to switch Spiro for SP, you have to do experiments by yourself.
I'm still not happy with results because even I have less shedding it is more than # of hair growing, another words I'm loosing hair.
I'll probably have to increase the dose.
I'm happy that Nizoral works for you. I'll try it too.

DOES Saw Palmetto work? |
Thanks. Nizoral did work for the first day but on the second and third it started back to shedding.
I am torn about using it as I lose my highest amount of hair when I wash it and nizoral is a shampoo- so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. The side effects of Aldactone/sp scare me and I don't think that it works very well on me anymore - when I first started it was like a magic cure- no shedding at all for 3 months- and then all of a sudden it was back- and I sometimes take one tablet (half twice a day) if it's a bad day but try to only take 1/2 if I can.
How about you?

I was on Spiro for 2, 3 years and it worked hairwise. But I had other problems like drowsiness, lethargy... It was excessive so I stopped and now experimenting with Saw Palmetto and some other supplements.

It is only natural to experience variations in shed while on treatment. Often we will have several sheds while we are on a treatment as hair cycles out, hopefullt to be replaced by stronger hair.
three months on spiro is not near long enough t ojudge resulst. you really do need to give it atleast a year to see if your hair is benefiting from treatment. Afterall, we have to focus on the hairs we are regrowing, and regrowth takes a long time!!!
If you are going to try a treatment, please use it consistently. Honestly, using treatments here and there can alter your hormonal balance be even worse for your hair.
If the spiro helped you before, perhaps you could try it again and ride out the sheds? It may take a while, but you might see results.

Hi Ona just a quick question. Your said you were on sprio for 2 -3 years. What kind of hair loss did you have. was it typical pattern or diffuse and how long did it take you to get results with the spiro. How long have you had hair loss and how long and how much do you think you recovered. Also did you expereince lots of shedding on spiro or was it a matter of decreasing your shedding and then getting regrowth
very much appreciated
