For Steph (Cyproterone Acetate (Diane35))

Hi Steph

How are you doing? I noticed that you were seeing Dr Rushton and are on androcur - are you seeing any results?

All the best

For Steph

Hi Carly

Yes, I went to see Dr Rushton nearly a year ago.
I have been on Dianette, Androcur, four Florisene a day, multivits, green tea, flax eed oil, blah, silica, biotin, blah... I really look after my diet, and take regular exercise.
I occasionally call Dr Rushton to give hime an update on how my hair is looking (it looks exactly the same) and he basically keeps telling me it's all in my imagination. I told him I can PROVE I have lost a lot of hair by showing him a few old photographs.
He even suggested that my problem may well psychological, rather than physiological (another way of telling me it's all in my head.)
I told him this can't be so, as my close family and friends agree that it is thinner. He said he doesn't give a damn what they think. I don't want to ring him again, as he just gets ruder and ruder with each phone call.
He's patronising too. He keeps telling me I have I.R.I.O.T.I.S.
(I read it on the internet syndrome.)
When you go to see him, or phone him, he won't let you speak. He doesn't like you to question him. He talks over you. He's suggested I go back for a scalp biopsy, but I really don't think I can be bothered any more.
He's just after your money, and wants to flog his bloody Florisene tablets.
If this guy is the best trichologist in the country (according to him, no one else knows more about hair) then forget it. God help us!

What about you?

Hello steph
Just thought i'd say hi. Came across your write up on Dr Rushton the moron. I think these 'professionals' should be arrested. That's exactly what he told me that it was all in my head. He just talks out of his but and makes money. He makes my blood boil. Never been back to waste my money time or effort on him. Hope you are as well as can be.

Hi Salis

Hi Salis

Hope you are well. Sorry for the slow response,
just got back off a short break.
How are you coping now? I hope things seem a little brighter for you these days. You sounded very down a few months ago - I hope you didn't pack your job in. Life's too short. And dick heads like 'Dr' (he's not a real one, lets face it) Rushton need to be exposed, don't they?
They are preying on desperate women who hang on to their every word.
I mean, this is a guy with one of the best reputations in trichology - how does he do it?
They are all on the take, every last one of them, and I would advise every female reading these boards to HANG ON TO THIEIR MONEY and just take care of yourself. If there is a cure for female pattern baldness, I'm sure we'll hear about it in the news one day. Whoever discovers it will become a billionaire!
Anyway Salis, let me know how things are. Any improvements on the hair front?
Mine is the same.
Get in touch.

Take care

Steph. ;-)

Exposing Dr Rushton

I really think Dr Rushton needs to be exposed. For 2 yrs i believed his ferritin theory and got patronising responses when i said things were getting worse. I dont know why my derm referred me to him. I havent read a good word about him re. hair loss improvement/regrowth.

Exposing Dr Rushton

You know, I don't think there really are any "hair experts". Dr Rushton is in the UK, I assume. Well, in the USA supposedly Dr. Redmond is the expert. I've been to him and he didn't help me either, although I have to say he was never rude or insensitive. He was quite nice and understanding, but for that I can see a therapist which my health insurance will cover. He takes no health insurance at all, its out of your own pocket. Hair loss is very complex, I don't think dr's understand why it happens. There are so many possible causes, most of them hormonal and I don't really think doctors understand all the complexities of the female hormone system. I've been to derms, endo's, gynecologists, and none were helpful. The only slight help I've gotten is from holistic doctors which never take health insurance. It's cost me thousands so far and meanwhile, the shed continues. At least the holistic doctors have found some underlying health issues that may be at the cause of my hair loss. The mainstream doctors were basically worthless, and these are the ones in my health network. Oh well, I guess this is why we are here, there are people on these boards who know more about hair loss than all the doctors I've been to.
