Marvelon Anyone???? (Cyproterone Acetate (Diane35))

My GP mentioned he might put me on Marvelon (as opposed to dianette) if the view by an endo on my elevated Thyroid Antibodies come back as an "ok - nothing to worry about".

Personally i'd rather go on Dianette, as i did when i was a teenager because i had no side effects other than a bit of weight gain.

I know nothing of Marvelon, and had never heard of it until my dermatologist listed it as one of the possible anti androgenic tablets that is "hair friendly".

Does anyone have any info on this pill, its side effects, its affect on scalp hair....?

Muchas Gracias

Hi Sadie,
Marvelon is the same as Desogen, which is one of the least androgenic pills on the market. It is considered 'hair-friendly,' but everyone responds differently to these pills and there is no surefire thing. I was on it a few months, and I noticed less hair in the unwanted regions (down below.) I wasn't on it for long enough for me to notice a 'for sure' benefit to my scalp hair - I switched to Ortho Cyclen after only 4 months on desogen, and then I ditched the pill altogether a few months later. Very dumb move. Hairwise, I think I was just starting to see a benefit, and the subsequent dread shed from going off the pill, left me with less hair than ever.

If I go back on the pill again I will either go on Desogen or Ortho Cyclen.
