Deb, since you and I seem to have similar health issues, I wanted to ask, first of all, how are you feeling? Are you getting your adrenals/thyroids straightened out? I feel that I am finally on the right path, after learning a great deal from stop the thyroid madness. However, I was wondering, is aga related in any way to our health problems? Lately, I have started to panic, thinking that maybe my hair loss is really aga, not chronic te as my last derm told me. I do have regrowth, but much of it is thin and many of them are falling out already. I've tried to believe that if I get my other health problems corrected, my hair problems will go away too. But, if it is aga, I know that won't happen. Its stressing me out, big time and I know that's bad for my adrenals. Do you have aga? Does aga develop from these health issues, or is it solely due to hereditary factors? I do have a biopsy scheduled in a month, but I am so stressed over this now. If it is aga, I know the sooner I begin treatment, the better. But, the choices in treatment may not be good for my other health issues. What are you doing to treat the hair loss? Although my parents both have thick hair, my brothers do too, I have an aunt who has an obvious hair loss problem. This makes me think that perhaps she has aga, and therefore, it is in my genetic pool too. I guess I am looking for definites, which I know isn't going to happen with this hair loss nightmare. Any thoughts?

Hi Amy,

Sorry took me so long to respond, I have a new grandbaby and been spending alot of time with him and have gotten behind in my reading of posts. I'm still trying to iron out my thyroid/adrenal nightmare. I too have been using STTM as a guide. I was having problems with achiness in my bones after increasing my HC up to aboutt 27.5mg and couldn't figure it out. My energy level was getting much much better but couldn't figure out the achiness part. I tried increasing my armour in case that was it but it didn't seem to help any. I flew down to a dr in Houston last week that I found listed in the database in the Texas thyroid forum on Yahoo groups and he ran a bunch of blood work so we will see what he comes up with. I also asked him for a script for cortef as I had been taking a generic HC I was getting from England in case I was allergic to something in it. He also gave me some compounded cream with DHEA and Testosterone in it as my levels are below the bottom of the range. I've tried DHEA in the past in capsule form but it also made me achy so we will so how it goes with the cream. So far pretty good.

I've dropped my cortef down to 20mg and still taking 3 grains of armour so will see how I do with that. He also ran a test for Lyme Disease to see if I have that, won't know for a couple of weeks. I just can't seem to get my energy and stamina back to what they used to be. I'm still not working after three years.

I have never been told I have AGA but also have wondered if my 5 years of health issues could have triggered it. I don't have any temple loss though, mine is all diffuse but my bang area has been hit hard. I too, keep hanging on to one day I'll find the magic bullet to cure all my health issues and BOOM the hair will become normal again.

You do know that STTM has shut down but Deborah Sue has started a new forum at realthyroidhelp.com and Valerie is still on her yahoo group forum. Keep me posted on how you are doing and I will do the same. I think we are the only two on here with identical health issues going on.

Congratulations on your grandchild! I do know about STTM, sadly, they were so incredibly busy, they couldn't keep up with all the people who visited the site. Which goes to show how many people out there are undiagnosed and suffering, trying to figure out what is wrong with them. I was one of them for a long time. That website was a godsend, and I think Val is as knowledgeable (or more so) than any doctor I've seen. I am feeling much better since starting HC, I'm not 100% yet, but getting there. Thank God I finally found my adrenal problems, I went for years undiagnosed, because, as you know, doctors don't even consider adrenal fatigue a real condition. This whole experience has left me very skeptical of the mainstream medical community. I know that there are probably thousands of people, just like us who have all the symptoms of adrenal fatigue, yet are told by their doctors that there is nothing wrong with them. Yet, left undiagnosed, they meanwhile grow sicker and sicker. I often wonder how I functioned at work, a demanding job that even a person with no health issues would be challenged by. Somehow, I did it but I don't think I would have been able to much longer if I didn't get help. Its a disgrace that the medical community is so out of touch with this very real health problem. Its taken 5 yrs of my life that I will never get back.
