Greasy (Accutane or Medications Induced Hair Loss)

Oh yeh another thing which is pissing me off, my hair gets so greasy its incredible. If i was my hair on monday the next day its soooooo greasy and looks awful, and washing ur hair everyday aint good for ur hair. Does anyone else hve de same problemo?

Before my hair loss my hair used to go three/four days after a wash before getting greasy. Its not bloody fair!!!!! I hate my life

Yes i get the same problem. I have to wash my hair every day otherwise i wouldnt be able to leave the house. It gets very greasy as does my skin. Funnily enough I was on cypertrone acetate which cleared up my greasy face and acne. Not sure what effect it has on the hair though as was also shedding for a long period of time on it. Still on it, trying to work out a dose that might be better for me as initially i had a significant decrease in shedding for about 3 months. Any way, when i cut down on the CPA the grease has come back and behind my neck too. Also my skin has got worse again. Quite a difference. Just need to find something that will block that at the hair follicle aswell. Thats why im interested in the avodart and propecia route. I think the avodart seems promising. Have to wait for biopsy results before I take the plunge.

Salis, is CPA the same as Dianette? I understand Dianette is meant to reduce the greasiness from the skin and scalp.

Hi Sadie
CPA is cypertrone acetate (androcur). Dianette contains 2mg of this. The therapeutic dose of CPA is usually given at 50g. Yes it has helped to do that....not sure about the hair situation though.

I recommend you Google "androgen action" and read about how it can cause greasy hair. . .

i hate to recommend synthetic pills but try spironolactone combined with a bcp. i'm a greasy monkey and they have helped considerably.

also, i use nioxin and nizoral when i shampoo ON THE ROOTS ONLY! these are very drying shampoos so dont run them thru to the ends. then, put your conditioner on the middle to the ends of your hair, not on the scalp! this helps my hair so much!
