Any joy anywhere? (Cyproterone Acetate (Diane35)) |
Has anyone had any success i.e. regrowth with CA or Dianette?
I read the following:
Cyproterone acetate is used as an effective treatment for hirsutism and acne. Doctors in Europe also use it as hair regrowth treatment for women. However, no large controlled clinical studies in androgenetic alopecia with cyproterone acetate are available. Limited research on this treatment has shown it to have some effect on stabilization of hair loss although reports on regrowth are quite rare.

i know this sucks but the only drug that has been clinically proven to regrow hair is minoxidil...though I know you already know that.
That being said, there have been people who have regrown hair on various anti-androgens...geesh...just look at some of the men's forums!! The pop a propecia once a day...and some of them regrow a ton of hair...so IT IS POSSIBLE.
I also know a girl on another site who regrew her temples with Yasmin...
So it can happen just hang in there!

Hiya V - i know, i know re. hope and patience.....just wanted to read some hope stories about dianette/CA, rather than the crap i get online about how bad dianette was for peoples hair. I dont know anymore.
I think if ones diagnosis IS AGA then BCP's have got to help in the long run.
Can females who arent thinking of having kids take Propecia? My 39 year old male friend takes it and he has a damn good head of hair - im jelous he's got more than me, dammit!!!

If you are on BCP , are responsible, and not planning to have children in the near future, then yes, propecia(finasteride) can help. If you read the other post from salis, you will see that many docs and reseacrhers are saying that while the 1mg of propecia works well in men, a higher dose of 2.5mgs is needed for good results in women.
