To those with PCOS (PCOS & Hair Loss) |
I saw this on another forum and wanted to share it with you:
in another post she said she was on spiro for a long time which really cleared up her skin but didn't do much for her hair.
These are pictures of me one year after starting Flutamide and then three months later.
This is my first time. I hope it works:

The white lined area was almost completely shiny (bald) before Flutamide. Sorry I didn't think to take before pictures.

My hair has regained so much all over fullness. I am looking forward to more. When drying my hair, I sometimes cry with joy. It is unbelievable. I am so grateful to my Endocrinologist for giving me this opportunity.
I have taken 250mgs of Flutamide since June 2006. I get Liver Panel labs every three months. I am doing so well on this Med. I don't know why I had to suffer for so long. I had hair loss for 20+ years. If I can grow it back. There's hope for all.

Hair loss for 20 plus years!? Goes to show her follicles werent "dead" as they say. Wow!
The only endo i know in England that gives Flutamide is Dr Gerard Conway. If the BCP does nothing for me after one year, im definately going to see him.

Hi V,
I know her story, she is a big inspiration for me, too. The problem is on soulcysters.com she is the only one promoting Flutamide (I only hope there are not so many ther pcos-girls taking flutamide or why aren't much more positive feedbacks??)
I also don't understand how the hair structure changed by allison so much

Her photo (profile photo on soulcysters) shows her with straight hait, but the other fotos showing the hair regroth show curly hair (or at least some other structure9.. is it maybe because of Flutamide that the hair structure also changed?

I'm finding my hair is kinking - more so since the Regaine and now even more so with the BCP.
I read somewhere that kinked hair is a sign of androgen activity, and then ive read elsewhere that kinked hair is a sign of hair trying to "correct" itself. Mine isnt overly kinked but it feels "wirey".
I sometimes wonder when one person promotes a product (like Cheryl Baker did for Nourkrin) and have my doubts.

Lina, this lady is from another site...I can't post the info here, but I have talked with her via messages and she is doing much better. Her hair loss was prety severe as where her PCOS symptoms.
So tomorrow it will be one year on Flutamide and Folligen. I would definitely say I am pleased with the results. My pony tail diameter when measured puts me in the the "thick" hair category in terms of density. My overall density on the sides, back, and occipital area have all increased and look allot better. In fact other than the dryness and slight texture problems I would say I have a pretty decent looking head of hair. The area just behind my bangs is still bad. About a silver dollar size spot is still pretty sparse especially when wet. Thankfully, it it is easily camoflagued with a faux Toppik kind of product.
I don't spend most of my life anymore obsessing over my hair..at least in a negative way. I am starting to visit the long hair community boards and adopting some of their techniques to restore moisture to my hair..oiling the ends, dilluting my shampoo and protecting the ends with conditioner while I wash as well as drying naturally. My natural wave and shine are showing signs of coming back.
I plan on spending the rest of my life on the meds and hope in the next year or so maybe the front will improve as well. It is such a small area I could actually get a transplant if it does not come back in the spot over the next 2 years. Overall I am very happy. I have big hair like the days before this hairloss began albeit with the one bad spot. So yeah I am VERY pleased. I plan on sticking around and keeping you all updated. You are a great bunch of ladies..warm, pretty and smart. I wish you all good luck.
