Is your scalp still itchy and flakey? I have stumbled across something that has helped me. Have you ever heard of Borax? Its a laundry booster and it has been around for ages. Well, Borax is all natural - and is basically a mineral (sodium tetraborate).

The term “borax” is used to refer both to a mineral and to a refined compound with numerous applications. The mineral takes the form of colorless to white soft crystals, which can sometimes be tinged with brown, yellow, or green. The substance is also known as sodium tetraborate or disodium tetraborate, and it has been known to humans for thousands of years. The mineral is a chemical compound of the element boron, and the chemical formula for borax is Na2B4O7*10H2O

I have been using this to wash my hair for the past week. Its only been a week so I am still kind of hesitant to say it has "cured" my scalp issues --but I can now say for sure that it has helped to some degree. My scalp was in really bad shape before this week and is now calm and more normal than it has been in some time. It is not 100% free and clear - but I can say it is about 95% better.

You can google "borax for scalp infection" or just google "borax cures" and read some testimonials for yourself.

All I do is add about 1 inch of borax to a large cup (one with a lid or a bottle) and then add warm water and shake to disolve. Then I shower as normal and rinse my hair with water. When it is time for doing my hair I re-shake the cup so to get the borax better distriputed and slowl dump on my head. This will NOT lather so it takes time to get used to this feeling of shampooing wth no lathering. I keep the borax on for about 3-5 minutes and then rinse.

Thats it!

I have ben reading up on this product - it has been around for generations. Lots of peopl have been known to shampoo, shower, even wash their face with this mineral.

I plan to use it from now on or until it no longer soothes my scalp. But, for now it is working better than anything else I have come across...and it is natural...and cheap!

Good luck!
Gina

sounds interesting. Do you notice more hair loss when using it? The reason why I ask is because whenever I put oil, or medicated shampoo on my scalp I lose a hell of alot! almost quadruple than a normal shampoo. Also, before using this, did your hair get oily and now that is getting better with the borax? Has your hair shed slowed down at all? I just washed my hair and counted 110. Last year it was 200, and 2 months ago it was 150. I hope this is a good sign! I have been drinking tons of water lately and my scalp is not as itchy. But I do get the occasional sebum, and my bang area is still a horrible mess. Please let me know how this goes! and let me know if you see re-growth. I might pick this up next week. My schedule is so busy right now. I hope you have found the magic cure for us!

Really good!
My scalp feels so healthy now.
I wash with borax every 4th day (in between using RX shampoo).

HL decreased but might be due to my diet (cut sugars) and HL supplements I'm taking.

My scalp is clean, not red anymore. No buildup, no flakes.

Will continue.

TAZ? Are you out there?

I have a red scalp but no flakes and occasional itching. I've been to 3 derms and not one of them can fix this. Did any of you not have flakes?
