does this happen to anyone else (Birth Control Pills & Hair Loss) |
Im on Yasmin ocp and it seems to help. But whenever I stop and take the placebos my hair falls out more. Anyone else notice this with ocp's??? Its driving me nuts..

HI Mssaprl,
If you read Dr Redmond's book he addresses that problem. He feels you should stay on the pill and not take the placebo. If I remember correctly you should just start the next pack not taking the 7 days of placebo. I'm not certain of the particulars but I believe you should stop and take the placebos every 4 months or so. He believes that the increased shedding is from the estrogen withdrawal. N

How many months did you try it for? Sometimes it takes a couple to level out.

Well the first month I skipped the placebos it was fine, no bleeding. And then the 2nd month I started bleeding and it went on for the whole 28 days! So I basically had to stop and take the placebos.

I havent talked to my Dr. yet I have an app. on the 21st. But Im taking spiro also which is also helping with the HL.

Maybe the combination of the spiro/bcp non stop caused the bleeding? Usually there's some sort of adjustment with the spiro anyway so the combination could have caused the problem. It's good to know though that you can get your HL to stop by taking the Yasmin non-stop, there's something in the pill that's working for you.
