Hair loss after pregnancy (Uncommon & Misc Hair Loss Conditions)

Ever since I gave birth my hair has been falling out. My doctor is less than helpful and keeps saying it is stress and to relax. There isn't a lot of stress in my home. The most stress I really have is looking for stress to avoid on his orders! Has anyone else heard of this and know if there are other causes besides stress?

There is actually a condition called postpartum hair loss. It's generally caused by the major hormonal changes in your body and is temporary while your body settles back down. There is a good article about it with the link I posted below, and you might consider printing it for your doctor to look at also.

The hair loss following pregnancy is due to telogen effluvium. Hair loss will subside in about six months. If the iron levels are low( may be due to excess blood loss) , it may also cause hair loss.
