Hysterectomy and hair loss (Menopause, Peri-menopause & Hair Loss)

I had a total hysterectomy in February 08 - everything removed, and I was wondering if anyone experienced hair loss from menopause and if so, how long did it take before shedding returned to normal? I am so nervous about losing hair again that I am almost tempted to go on the estrogen patch. I was thinking of not going on any HRT at first, but I fear the worse right now.

Hysterectomy and hair loss

The hair loss after menopause is due to hormonal imbalance. As long as the hormonal imbalance is there, hair loss will continue

Very sad but true. It doesn't get better unless the hormones are added.

Hysterectomy and hair loss

This post is meant for delilah too.

Well, I haven't been feeling the greatest so I think I will have to go on HRT after all. I have noticed a little bit more hair loss from last month - seeing hairs on my pillow - feeling hairs falling on my arms, which this means for me more hair loss, unfortunately :-(

Would the V dot (I can't think of the name of it) patch be the best bet?

PS - Funny my Gyn doctor said he'll be seeing me in a few months because he had the feeling I'd be going on something.

I did well on the Vivelle dot for a while but then I had some problems with absorption (actually could have been bc my jeans rubbed on the patch a lot) but whatever the case I ended up switching to Estrogel and prometrium first 12 days of the month. OF course you dont need the prometrium bc you've had a hysterectomy. Also the good news is that there's no increase in breast cancer if you don't take progesterone so that's the upside of the hysterectomy.
