Avodart or Propecia (Propecia, Finasteride for Women) Post reply

My girlfriend is 49 years old and postmenopausal on HRT. She has suffered from hair loss the last few years with the greatest loss the last year. High stress, hormonal imbalances, and low ferritin the last few years have made it difficult for us to determine TE or AGA. We have lowered her stress, put her on iron supplements, gotten her hormones leveled out, had her on Rogain 5%, and started 100mg Spiro. Still, she's losing hair... or at the very least not growing any new hair (for the last few days she's only lost 6 - 10 hairs brushing, but few if any new hairs are seen growing in at the crown or along the vertex). Thinking back a year ago, the only thing that seemed to help her hair thicken was a series of progesterone shots injected directly into her scalp. Since that helped some -- and since progesterone is a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor -- we're theorizing that she has some level of AGA... and that Propecia or Avodart along with the Spiro may help. We have Avodart onhand. Would this make sense for her to take? Also, her endo has scheduled her for a blood test in November to determine if her prescribed HRT is correct. Could Propecia or Avodart skew her blood test results by raising or lowering levels? Thank you for any ideas. Kai is located in [NA] and he is available to meet: NO
