Hi rachel,
I just started spiro a week and a half ago so too early to see any improvement or side effects. I'm on 100 mg. Are you on spiro? If so, how is it going for you?

I started on 50 mg about a month ago and was increased to 100 mg about 2 weeks ago. Not sure when he'll increase me to 200 mg. I'd like to think there's a decrease in shedding, but its hard to say at this point.
I had a little bit of dizziness when I would get up, but that seems to have subsided with no other real side effects except for about a 3 lb weight loss. Oh, my skin is less oily which is nice.
I've had one blood test to monitor how I'm doing on the medication and it came back fine.

I've been one spiro for 5 months. The first month 25 mgs and the last 4 50 mgs. About a 1.5 into spiro my hair loss slowed down and I thought things were improving. That lasted about a month. Then I started losing mostly short regrowth hairs and now my shed has picked up again. My hair looks ten times worse than it ever has because I'm losing all my regrowth. I really need some inspiration. I don't think I'm going to make it!

Rachel,
I had a decrease in hair loss for the first seven months that I took Spiro. Then, it increased for the next year. I've stopped taking the Spiro and have started on topical Spiro after reading about it. I talked to my internist, and she gave me the prescription. A compouding pharmacy had to make it. This is my second day using it topically, but I'll update you as time goes on.

Hi Trish,
I've been thinking about trying topical Spiro too. Please keep us updated. Can you tell me what the pharmacy used to make up the topical Spiro? Have you ever heard of Topical Flutamide or thought about trying that?
Thanks Megan

Hi Megan,
I'll look for the list of ingredients that I gave them and post them for you. I've never read about topical flutamide. What have you heard about it?

I tried to purchase it from him online. I sent in the paperwork that he requested. I received an e-mail that he would only prescibe to patients in the Southern CA area that could see him at his office. I don't live in Southern CA. That's when I talked to my internist, and she prescribed the topical spiro from a compunding pharmacy.
