Hi every one in this forum specially betsy , fari and byrnl and every one share for help, i wish i have your courage to see Dr.s and stuff i tried to do but it was step forward and two back, also betsy your name is every where U R so active member here so god bless u.

I also like the way ppl here write about the problem in funny way so hey betsy , fari and byrnl i think u have a nice personality.

this is my first post here and everywhere in the web about my scalp odor cuzzzzzz immmmmmmm too shy to say hay im stink :-| ouch its our funny pain.. any how as byrnl said 'enough is enough' so add my hands and fingers crossed.

i don't try any more i just don't care about every thing i believe that this will pass some day.
the hard about it i'm an engineering student and its too bad to be a student with this problem. sometimes i late to sleep to avoid the next another bad day or watching people try to give hints about it like U don't know..

i'm just avoiding every thing and have a zero 2 dead ppl to talk to.. so this is why i'm here, i want to share..

sorry for the long of this, i still have alot to write about, but i have to do a lab. report for tomorrow.

Hey Afilado. I'm happy that you found this forum! It's good you are able and willing to talk on here about your scalp odor. Although I don't have it (false alarm!), I know how everyone feels! We are all in the same boat.

Have you tried any shampoos or other products for your scalp odor? From what I've gathered on this board, you should stay away from food filled with yeast and sweet stuff. Supposedly, it makes the odor stronger.

If there's anything else you need to know, just reply back. ;-)

Hey there Alfilado, sorry you have the scalp problem. If you have read so much on the forums you can pretty well know I'm going to tell you to buy some Jason Dandruff Shampoo. This is the only shampoo I've ever been able to find that takes care of the problem. I no longer worry people will smell my scalp when they are near me. ;-) I still use the shampoo once a week, sometimes twice. But I am sure you will find this works for you. Another thing I find helps is taking probiotics, but if you try the shampoo first that is the most important step to managing this problem.

Keep us posted and let us know if you try the shampoo.

hey krystalyna hey betsy
thanks for your support im so glad in this forum, actually my first time here was in December 2007 when the problem started.. i remember your name betsy everywhere since that date;-).. but i didn't get help bcuz ppl here confused me about stuff work other say no.. the beginning of my problem was too bad i gave up and kept repeating 'So What!' I don't care.. 'Why should i care' 'it's out of my hands' bcuz i had to focus on my study engineering now im in the last year.. in june 2010 i will graduate..

any way yes i tried alot of stuff most of them famous shampoos(bcuz i thought in quality) like head and shoulders which is worse the problem, sunsilk, pert plus, pantene, detol bodywash&soap, white vin.
from the begining i read some post mentioned that the products that contains perfume or oil worse the problem and i 100% agree this is why im losing hope to try shampoos or oils..
also i tried dry soap cloth wash products but also worse it..

alcohol mentioned by you krystalyna but i stay away from it bcuz my parents told me it will loses your hair's color(will be white like 60 years old)..

but i stoped to try external stuff cuz i read alot and every one know its fungus yeast infection it need a medical stuff (oral pills) to kill that fungus; antifungal like ketoconazole(pills).. specially when alot of ppl here in this forum said that nizoral failed and other shampoos that contains antifungal ketoconazole or ciclopirox olamine.

from old post in this forum by 'sufferer' @ 24.10.2008

this woman mentioned some thing called Malassezia..
from Wikipedia Malassezia:
Malassezia (formerly known as Pityrosporum) is a genus of related fungi, classified as yeasts, naturally found on the skin surfaces of many animals including humans.

Work on these yeasts has been complicated because they are extremely difficult to propagate in laboratory culture.

investigations show that in humans the species causing most skin disease, including the most common cause of dandruff and...

As the fungus requires fat to grow, it is most common in areas with many sebaceous glands: on the scalp,[12] face, and upper part of the body..
Click on sebaceous glands link and see where is the sebaceous glands I think its deep that antifungul shampoos can NOT reach to that glands.. so maybe this is why these shampoo not a cure only temporary cover just reduces the odor not eliminating it or cure;; even jason every one still using it to cover the odor or reduce it to very low level but not a cure.. i read that the antifungul stuff will take time to see different like probio but still think these antifungul shampoos for the fungus on the skin of the scalp and will not cure the problem if the fungus in the sebaceous glands.. also no body mentioned that there is any thing over the scalp even their doctors so shampoos not a cure..!!

in the end of this novel i started to take probio two weeks ago, with diet with no sugar, no rice(very hard to avoid it), no bread(very hard to avoid it) , alot of protein, ++yogurt, ++vitamin C and yesterday i started to swallow pieces of garlic with some yogurt it dose not has its strong odor with the breath but it did if i chew it.. i wash my hair with antibactrial soap for face then with zinc shampoo mixed with some packing powder.. the odor still there just reduced no total cover:-(

packing soda is better but i don't know where to find it, what do you think betsy you mentioned to fari that you use it..

I will try to buy two bottle of jason just hope it cover the odor until the cure but i'm so nerves if it not gonna work it will cost me $61.3 only for shipping.. so what do you think??

i'm wondering what happened with byrnl and the doctors??
is the prozac really cure the odor problem??!!.. i also need some stuff for my nervous and anger problems!!

bye.. sorry it's too long reply but i like to write to U;-) your the only one who feels my pain!!

»Alfilado, I know how you must hate to order the Jason Dandruff shampoo. But honestly that is the best thing I can recommend to you. Just order 1 bottle and see how it works. If you don't want to use it then you will only be out 1 bottle.

I use Baking Soda and you can buy it with the sugar and flour in the grocery store, it is very cheap. I mix it with the Jason Jojoba shampoo, not the Jason Dandruff...that stuff (dandruff) stands on it's own very well! ;-)

I find the sebaceous glad story interesting and will look at it again. But all I can tell you is the Jason Dandruff shampoo works for me like no other.

Good luck!

hello betsy i know the jason is working for alot of ppl and i will buy 2 bottle bcuz the shipping cost the same!! $65 for 2 b. and $57 for 1 b.

i guess it will work..

i have the baking powder not the baking soda (some ppl said use baking soda not baking powder) the difference: Baking soda is pure sodium bicarbonate

any who.. baking powder helps a little mixed with shampoo or after shampoo with water.

i will try Kal Acidophilus Probiotic-5 3bil it's mentioned by this article

hi betsy,

what about the diet what do we should eat?! sugar diet is hard to deal with!!

if the sugar feeds the fungus but it also feeds our cells too the brain need sugar!!

how long of this diet weeks months or until the difference..

are you with or against to take pills of antifungus like ketoconazole but it has alot of side effects and needs a regular tests for blood and liver!!
i afraid to use it!.

one more thing about how many billion(CFU) of probio U use??

mine is 4.5bil(CFU) 2 tables/day with a meal.. the 1st dose was the worse i felt like some thing burning in my stomach but later it's good..

Appreciate your support.. and god bless you for the activity:-)

hello alfilado and betsy!!!!!!

» sorry i haven't been on here for a while...so much going on....i havent found a cure lol!!!

I am now usin jason dandruff every 2 days again!!!!I stopped using it for a while as i was trying out cheaper versions with neem oil and they stopped working after a few weeks boo hoo hoo....oh well i always go back to the jasons afterwards hehe. I can now go without 3 days without washing my hair after using the jasons.
I have stopped taking acidophillus and i do believe there is a link with this and my greasiness :o(
Im just not going to worry anymore...i will just use jason dandruff and maybe experiment here and there but i always end up using the jasons when the smell comes back.

That shipping costs a bomb...u must live on the moon hehe.....i know what u mean as i wanted some tersaseptic (ppl have had success with that) but the shipping would have coast me about $40.00 and the tersaseptic itself was about $2-3....its so unfair. Hey why dont u try tersaseptic? It must be cheaper where u are?

Hey betsy hows ur son settling in at uni? And how does it feel not having him around?

Alfilado....the jasons is the only thing that worked for me...ok i do stray away from it from time to time but i always end up using it again when my scalp goes haywire...i think also the virgin coconut oil rubbed in also worked for me and that horrid smelly neem oil which took days for the smell to go away ahahahaa...but the thing is its only temporary :(

hope to hear from u soon :)

Afilado,
I have not done any drastic change in eating. I rather believe if you do then it is kind of a lifelong change. I think it is best to avoid sugar and starches when possible though.

I am afraid to take the antifungal meds too. They do have many side effects. Plus, I have heard from some on this forum that have taken them that the fungal symptoms reappear after a time. There are no meds that permanently rid us of yeast. I take 1,000,000,000 per day in 1 acidophilus tablet. You take quite a large dose. If you are OK with this it is good for you. If not, try taking something with 1 bil. I tried one with more the 1st time and it did make me not feel well. I'm better on less. They say to take at least 1 bil. / day. Make sure to take it with food as they say it helps the bacteria (good) establish itself. Have you noticed any positive results from taking the acidophilus?

@ fari

hello alfilado and fari!!!

fari, how great to hear from you again! I know exactly what you mean about the Jason's Dandruff. I go through times when I have to use it more than once a week too. Nothing like it! I just cringe to think what would happen if they take it off the market!

So you are not taking the acidophilus anymore? Did you feel it wasn't making that much of a difference? I have seen so many good intestinal results I'm sticking with it.

I agree, the shipping cost is horrible for alfilado. I wonder where they are located. Honestly though, if you have this condition, I would have to say Jason's Dandruff is nearly a must! I wonder if you took the main ingredients (colloidal sulfur and salicylic acid, MSM, Neem Oil, tea tree oil, and vinegar plus a few other choice ingredients and added them to a relatively safe shampoo if that would work? I only say this if you have to pay the horrible shipping charges.

I have 2 sons and I'm not sure which one you are asking about. They both are college grads. ONe of them lives in China and has a job and the other one moved this year to California for his job. Boo hoo...I don't like being an empty nester. I'm getting more used to it though. My son loves CA. We just hope the economy doesn't get any worse or there may be lay offs.

How are you doing?

hello alfilado and fari!!!

Betsy...i passed my driving test!!!!!At last hehe...i would have given up this time for sure if i had failed haha.
I meant ur son who you said u were helping move to his new job/college? I hink it could have been the one in CA....i cant wait for my 2 to move out...i guess i have along time to wait...they are still only babies hehe.

I think the acidophillus worked for me as now that i have not taken them for a while my scalp gets greasy very quick especially when i stopped using jason dandruff.....the only reason i stopped was the health food store holland and barrat i got them from did not know the strength so i was confused. And i never returned to buy anymore..i want to get the 1 billion or even higher??? I think this time round i will buy from the internet...at least i will know it is the correct dose!!

hello alfilado and fari!!!

fari, that is fantastic you passed your driving test! I'm very happy for you!

Yes, my son that moved to California for a job is settled in and happy there. It is far away from here :crying: but I'm glad he is happy. Don't wish away the years your children are at home. Those are the best years. But life goes on and I'm adjusting to the new me! ;-)

I get my acidophilus from the grocery store, but I know what you mean, it is sometimes easier to order from the net!

hello alfilado and fari!!!

Way to go, fari! :D

As for Alfilado, I wasn't the first person to mention alcohol. I got it from someone else on this board who claimed it worked for them, but eventually that person moved on to safer products (forgot what). I was just willing to test it out, but never did. :P Too dangerous and besides, my hair is permed now, so that wouldn't be a good idea!

I hope something out there works for you! ;-)
