Akward Stage (Hair Transplant for Women)

After your transplant, how long did it take to see results. Did you have an "akward" stage? I recently had one and I am kind of going through an akward stage... I see a lot of little hairs but they are all short...

How much does it cost for a transplant and what is the recovery time?

Mine was aprox. 7,000. Recovery was not bad at all. The back of my head was a little sore for about 4 days. I did not go out in public for about a week, but that was out of vainity. (I also went to a very good surgeon... I had heard great things about him and his staff)

However, it takes a while to see any results, b/c you have to go through a full hair cycle/ growth cycle.

Can I ask how old you are and if you have fall-out around the transplants?

Sure, I am 30 and my hair began to shed in my mid 20's. I did experience some fall out, which I believe is the reason for my akward stage. (honestly, it is only akward to me) I have a ton of little short hair growing in front of my hairline and to me it looks akward. However, I am happy with my results at only 5 months... and I am extremely satisfied with my surgeon. He is great and his team is excellent. I highly recommend him.

Feel free to ask me any questions. I remember how frustrating it was to find women who had actually go through the hair restoration (transplant)process. So, ask away....:-)

Oh, and I forgot to mention I had minor surgery a month after the proceedure. I believe surgery can induce hair loss -- so some of the fall out could have been the result of the surgery.

For most people, it does take about 9-12 months before you see the full benefits of the transplant, assuming you have good yield.

Yes, it is normal to see little hairs sprouting, it is a good sign.

Akward Stage

I recently had a hair transplant a week ago and I wanted to know approximately how many of the grafts stay in place and how many fall out. What percentage stay in place? because today i noticed that a graft came out when i touched my head and i'm scared that most of the placed follicles will come out and i will be back where i started. thanks for any advice you can give. glad there are people to ask advice of who have gone through the same thing. also i was told to wash my head with a betadine shampoo and johnson's baby shampoo twice a day for 2 weeks, is this really necessary? i feel like i'm traumatizing the grafts with all the washing. thanks again.

How many grafts did you have?

Was it FUE or STRIP that you had done?

The transplanted GRAFTS will only stay in place for a few days and then they will start to shed or fall out. This is normal. The transplanted follicles are already implanted into the skin, so the follicles are intact.

You will notice that substantially all of the transplanted grafts will fall out within 2-3 weeks after the procedure. Sometimes they tend to fall out together with the scabs, the graft and the scabs tend to stick together when they fall out. Again, this is normal.

You will go through a resting phase for anywhere from 6-9 months before you notice regrowth.

Good luck healing and please let me know if you have any questions.

Akward Stage

Hi I just had a HT this week. I'm in an ugly duckling stage as well. Will I lose hair around the transplanted area. I hope not because I'm already bald enough.

Sometimes it may happen. But in most cases, the hair will grow back. That is called a post surgical shed or shock loss after a hair transplant. However, bear in mind that sometimes shock loss can be permanent. It is important to choose your doctor wisely. The experienced doctors have very few cases of permanent shock loss among their patients.

Keep us posted.
