Could it be this simple solution? (Hair & Scalp Odor Problem) |
Okay my fellow stinky heads! I went to the dermatologist for the odor from my scalp. He was an older gentleman (in his 70's), so I was happy thinking that he would have had experience with this problem...but NO. He had never heard of it before. He gave me some topical creams which did nothing.
Then I started thinking about my morning ritual. I had changed it a few months prior to the odor beginning. I had begun leaving my hair towel dried while I applied my make-up and did some other things in the morning and drying my hair with a hair dryer was the last thing that I did.
So, a few weeks ago I went back to drying my hair first and I am NOT using any other products (Jason or otherwise) and the odor is gone. Not sure if this is the solution or if others are doing the same thing with regards to drying your hair last, but thought I'd clue you in to a possibility.
Regards

Hey Smelly Head, good to hear from you. I dry my hair immediately after washing it. THEN I put my makeup on. That sounds strange that your odor went away after drying your hair immediately. Do you think the creams may have helped and you just weren't aware of the connection? What creams were they? I'm not surprised that the derm wouldn't know about the scalp condition as we have all been to derms and doctors and none of them could identify the problem either. Anyway, thanks for the update

The derm. gave me a sample sized bottle of Clobex (topical lotion) and I used that for a few nights until I got a prescrition filled for Clobetasol Propionate (0.05%). This was more of a liquid than cream and smells like alcohol. I probably only used this three times.
I am not attributing to the smell clearing up to these products since I barely used them.
I did buy a product by Jason that I hadn't seen before called scalp elixr. Sometimes before I go to bed I use this. Maybe this has helped?
Good luck everyone!

Jason Scalp Elixer |
Wow, wonder if it is the scalp elixer? From the descriptions it cleans and tones the scalp hair folicles. I would think this has made the difference for you rather than the drying time. Anyway, glad you are finding relief. I will be anxious to hear any more updates concerning your progress. Good luck to you too!

Jason Scalp Elixer |
The odor is back. I will admit that I got a little lazy and have not been using the Jason shampoo or elixr. I have just started those again.
I am going to try to find another dermatologist around here who has heard of and knows how to treat what we are dealing with.
