Seborrheic Dermatitis and Diffuse Hair loss (Scalp Inflammation, Irritations & Dermatitis) |
Is it possible for seborrheic dermatitis to cause diffuse hair loss? Have any of you experienced it? My daughter has it, and her scalp, along the part, was very red and inflamed. As a result, she suffered diffuse hair loss. I'd really like to hear from someone who has experienced the same thing. |

Are you sure it wasn't the other way around, that something caused the hair loss and then it became inflamed? That is what happened to me. And a lot of people on the various forums have experienced hair loss and during the course of it have had inflamed, itchy scalps. My hair loss was diffuse too, but it seems to be a TE type of hairloss, meaning only temporary and a reaction to a medication I took. I still have the inflamed scalp and itching though, but not as bad as it was. |

I have the same problem and spoke to a dermatologist, the answer is yes it's very probable that her thinning hair is a result of the seborreah, the dermatologist didn't do much other than giving me a prescription for a very expensive shampoo,it didn't help much so I did my own research, I've tried just about every dandruff shampoo, and most of them irritated my scalp even more, so far the only shampoo that helps is the one from Regenix moisture balance shampoo, you can buy their products online, it also helps to do hair treatments about once or twice a week, I buy pure almond oil extract and or avocado and olive oil extracts and rub them evenly into the scalp, use a warm wet towel to wrap around the head and leave it on for at least 30 minutes then rinse. this will help with the redness and flaking will be reduced, it also helps if you take a folic acid supplement and vitamin B. Let me know how it goes. » Is it possible for seborrheic dermatitis to cause diffuse hair loss? Have |
