WHat does a vellus hair look like? I think I may be losing some of them now. I notice very fine, thin hairs coming out and I was wondering if these are vellus hairs, or if only a doctor can tell the difference.

There are three types of hair -

1.Lanugo hair is seen in fetuses and newborns. They cover almost the entire body.

2. Vellus hair is short fine, body hair that grows in most places on the human body in both sexes

3. Terminal hair is the fully developed hair, which is generally longer, coarser, thicker, and darker than vellus hair
