I was on Diane35 for a year and a half and my hair was the fullest it's ever been. I stopped because I put on a couple of kilos and I blamed the pill instead of bad eating habits! That caused a massive shed so I went straight back on Diane to try to stabilise my hormones and also because it's known to promote hair growth.

My shed has now stopped and I have loads of regrowth. I can't vouch for it's success in treating AGA related hair loss but I do know it gave my thin hair more body after taking it for a while. I'm definately sticking to Diane, just not looking forward to a possible shed when I want to have kids.

Best of luck!

Unfortunately I can't give you an exact timeframe. I was on Diane 35 to control breakouts so I wasn't closely monitoring my hair at the time.

I can tell you that it cleared up my skin in 2-3 months which probably means this is when the positive effects on my hair started to happen too. I suppose waiting about 6 months is a good time frame to suggest - this is when you'd be able to really notice and feel any changes in hair body and strength.

If you have any other questions I'm more than happy to answer. Best of luck with everything.

»I have been on Diane 35 for almost a year. It seemed to work well at preventing further hair loss but didn't really help me get my old hair back. I am still on it but I have noticed a lot of shedding in the last few weeks. I swear my sheds are due to season change May-September is always the worst. I was hoping Dianne would fix that. Another trip to the Dr.

collen...how long would you say it took you to see a difference in your hair loss. I have been on it around four months and haven't seen a change yet. Thanks

diane 35 - To Dawn

Hi Dawn,

I'm so sorry it took me this long to reply. I live in Australia so I just get a prescription from the family doc. Unfortunately, I don't know what to suggest if it isn't readily available where you live. Best of luck!

Hi everyone!

The same thing happened to me as well: I went off Diane after 6 years (my dermatologist prescribed them to me because of severe acne). After the first week (believe it or not) of taking them, my skin cleared up and it stayed that way until I went off it (I'm trying to get pregnant now :-) ).

Unfortunately around 4 months after I got off the pill, my hair started shedding. First I only noticed it on the day I washed it, but after 2 months I also noticed shedding every day. It's still going on and it's driving me crazy. I loose around 200-300 a day ( I stopped counting, because I really couldn't handle that anymore). Supposedly this is classic TE (I hope!) and it should stop in 6-8 months. However, I'm sooo scared I will loose more than 50% of my hair!!!! (I think I must have lost around 20-30% after 4 months of shedding).

Anyway, seeing what all this synthetic hormones can do, I will seriously reconsider ever going on the pill again!!!!!! I'd rather have some acne than be (semi)bald, don't you think?

I would really appreciate and reply of any of you ladies, who might have gone through the same as I!!!

Thanks a lot.
