To Deb-- Candida diet (Support Forum & Misc Topics) |
Hi Deb:
I wondered, is there a "support" forum for people with Candida? I think if there was one it would be great to get on their and just read other posts and ask a few questions. I went to a naturopath and through testing, said I have a candida overgrowth. I am now looking into changing my diet, is there a good book out there that says what to eat and not to eat?
thank you!!

Hi Kristin,
Where I got most of my info and interacted with others battling it was on www.curezone.com. There is a candida support forum there. A few months ago the site crashed and quite a few of the pages of posts were lost but there is still an active forum there. Havent' checked it out in awhile but I have frequented in the past www.healthyawareness.com, a candida forum as well.
I never bought a book but you can google candida diet and find tons of info. The diet is tough, I did it strict for 15 months and looked like I belonged in a conservation camp, still had candida so gave up on the diet. I'm positive I developed candida in the first place from untreated hypothyroidism so have focused on getting my thyroid and adrenals healthy again and the candida doesn't seem to be an issue much anymore. Also, had my amalgams removed and did mercury detox and that seemed to help as well.
Good luck, it's a tough beast to battle.

P.S. One of the best things you can do is eat lots of cultured vegetables. They are loaded with good bacteria and there are people getting well from candida that have suffered for years by eating it. Bowel cleansing is important also, if you have access in your area to do colonics, I did a few and felt they helped as well. It will help knock the load down some while you try and get the upper hand.

Thanks Deb for your response. Can I ask a couple more questions? What are cultured vegetables? Where do I find them? (sorry to be so naive).
Also, how do you find someone who is really good at Colonics. I bet insurance doesn't cover this correct?
thanks Deb.

Hi,
Cultured vegetables are raw veggies that are fermented for days allowing the good bacteria to grow. They can be found in stores such as "Whole Foods" or any organic health type market.
About colonics, I had to drive 3 hrs into Dallas as I live in a small town to find one. I think I found her on the net, I probably googled something like "colon hydrotherapist Dallas". If you can't do that at least do some type of herbal colon cleanser, you can find at most health stores.
If you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, probably start a new thread as this one is about off the page and I never check the older ones.
