Hi girls - I am in the early stages of what could be AGA. I need to find a expert in female hair loss who can really diagnose this correctly. My net digging points to some candidates in the NYC area - can any of you comment on any of these docs? Any help or guidance at all would be appreciated more than you could ever know. I am losing 300+ hairs per day and am praying to put the brakes on this before I have more scalp than hair. Any comments on these docs? THANKS.

I have been seeing dr daly since october. I started seeing him after reading many of his hl articles and no other doc helped. He is very proactive. He has me on avodart, vitimins ..... He did every blood test possible, and just recently we did a test for heavy metals-upon my request-to see if anything environmental, air, water.. was causing hl. I like the staff, they gave me free samples of concelers for hl

Thanks Ann. That helps me a lot. I'm being slightly neurotic and I have two pages worth of questions and comments... do you think he's patient and will go through all that with me? I felt dismissed by a previous doctor and I definitely want to approach someone who will take the time to hear me out.

Do you feel that Daly's diagnosed you correctly, and have you been able to see stabilization or improvements yet? Any details you'd be willing to share would be terrific. Thanks again.

My first appointment lasted over an hour. He was willling to listen to all suggestions and ?s I had. I feel he has me on the right path. He takes insurance. It is too soon to see any results. You should call it is worth the visit

Hi Ann,
Did Dr. Daly perform a scalp biopsy or examine any of your hair samples?
Can you tell me what tests he did other than blood and/or urine?

Is Dr Daly an endo, or a derm? Ideally, I'd like an endo who treats hair loss, as I have some other health issues going on too.

Dr Daly is a derm..

I'm actually going to go see a different derm who specializes in hair loss on Thursday - Dr. Michael Reed. If anyone's a patient of his, I would love to hear about your experiences. Thank you.

I also saw an Endo last week who was fantastically thorough in testing blood and urine - he's looking at everything and then some. Might be a good idea for you if you're also having other issues as well... Dr. Donald Bergman in NYC. As far as my hair loss, I figured it wouldn't hurt to have both an endo and derm who both specialize... Good luck Amy!!!
