Hi there, I'm 26 with Alopecia Universalis, Started losing some hair about a year ago and I was getting cortizone shots, and then when I got pregnant with my 2nd child around 4 months I lost all my hair on my body, and now my son is 3 months old and no regrowth. I thought maybe it was just my pregnancy but now I'm guessing not. I haven't really seen anyone yet since the total loss, but next month I have a appt in Hershey with a hair loss specialist. I'm excited but scared at the same time, I'm afraid they will tell me there's nothing they can do, but I guess I will just have to wait and see. |

I'm 22. I've been dealing with gradual hair loss since age 15. Ihave AGA or at least what all my research and biopsy has lead me to believe. Its hard, and its not fair. To be so young and have to deal with this. Society has made hair into such a big deal. Women should no be judged by looks so much. But the one thing that keeps me going everyday is to know that I'm not alone. And that although hairloss is horrible, there could be many worse things to deal with and have. My fiance has lung cancer. And that always makes me sit and think before I wallow in my self-pity. I hate it, and its just going to get worse. But you are not alone, and there are ways to hide it or slow it. |

I am 28 (almost 29) and have been dealing with hair loss for the last year. It has been one of the hardest times of my life. I keep trying to buck up and really believe that my hair is not who I am, but it gets really hard. I am going to start Rogaine in a few days and hope that it will slow down the loss at the very least. |

I am 29 and have being dealing with hair loss the last year. It has been one of the worst years of my life. There are days I just don't know how I will make it through. To make things worse I am single. I wanted a family and kids someday but every time I look in the mirror and see the thinning hair and now noticeable bald spots I know I will now be alone forever and it just crushes me. |

To thinning hair: We understand, I think we've all had those emotional times. Hair loss is a devastating thing to our self esteem. I've had many, many crying sessions over it. Like you, to the outside world, I seemed to have it all. But, appearances aren't always what they seem. I am so insecure from my hair loss, its done a real number on my confidence. I'm 25 and have been dealing with it for 5 yrs now. 5 yrs of tremendous stress that I think contributed in a large measure to my adrenal problems. For a 25 yr old, I have many health issues, although they aren't apparent to the outsider. Recently, I've been diagnosed with aga, which just devastated me. But, I've begun to do a number of things which, although its too soon to say, seem to be helping. I've posted my regimen on the aga forum, if you're interested. Good luck.... |

I'm 30 and was diagnosed over a year ago, I was told i'd prolly had AGA since puberty. I spend way too much time thinking about my hair and it consumes alot of energy. I also used to have gorgeous hair which I just took for granted, my hair is unrecognisable compared to how it looked ten years ago. Hair loss is sh*t. |

I haven't really had a dread shed happen yet. It could be that all the other things I've been doing and taking have cancelled out the shed? Of course, I may still get the dread shed. I'll just have to wait it out and see. My hair used to be very thick too, I used to complain that it was too thick and wavy. It seems funny to me now, that I actually didn't like having thick hair. Little did I suspect back then, that I would soon be worrying about going bald. My hair is probably about 1/2 of what it was 5 yrs ago. I promised myself, if I ever regrew my hair, I would never complain about bad hair days again. I try to be thankful of any progress I make with it, no matter how small, but there are always setbacks, it seems. I think I am on the right track as far as my other health problems go, so maybe that is helping my hair issues as well. |
