I was in the hospital recently for pneumonia, and was given a hefty 5 day dose of antibiotics. My hair has been shedding for about 4 years, and without being able to shower for 4 days, you can imagine how bad the shedding was while in there. But.....maybe 3 days or so after getting out, my hair loss stopped. I mean, completely stopped. After years of trying Rogaine, every supplement under the sun, diet changes....something completely stopped my hair loss. Nothing fell for 3 months. Even when coloring, next to nothing came out. Now, 4 months after my hospital stay, the hair loss is back......just as bad as ever. Anyone have any ideas about what it could have been? I've only been able to find info. on antibiotics CAUSING hair loss, not stopping it....I was on prednisone for a couple of days ....but again, could only find info. on prednisone stopping hair loss. Could it have been the fact that I was on an i.v. for 5 days, therefore being super -hydrated (I'm not good when it comes to drinking water during the day)?? Has anyone heard of antibiotics stopping hair loss? I'm wondering if something other than AGA could be causing my problem. Any ideas would really be appreciated. |

Prednisone may cause severe hair loss for some people. Please discuss with your doctor to be sure. --- |
