The TSH is thyroid stimulating hormone. It is what is needed to cause your thyroid to produce the right amount of t3 and t4. If is is high, then that means your thyriod is needing more stimulation to do its normal job, this eventually leads to hypothyroid and that is why many practioners treat for hypothyriod when this level rises.
