Found and read the old thread.....I was on holiday at the time so missed it! My nails are exactly the same as Ginawat. I'm finding it difficult getting ferritin levels up and my GP thinks I have an absorption problem. Also, it doesn't help that I'm naturally low in stomach acid due to being blood Type A. I'm sure the ridges are an outward sign of nutritional deficiency and subsequent slow nail growth. As said, it makes sense that if your hair is being deprived of certain nutrients to feed more important organs, then so will your nails. My ridges are in exactly the same place on each nail and it looks like they are 'growing out'. If it was a sign of stress then surely the ridges would be a continuous process and I would have more than one 'bump'?
