Propecia or Spiro - which do you think is more effective? (Propecia, Finasteride for Women)

posted by V, 22.10.2007, 15:40

V, I have to disagree with you here. I personally know of 3 women who's androgenic hairloss completely reversed on bcp ALONE (2 used Desogen, 1 used Yasmin). Think of the many millions of women who have been on them for 40 years. We are just a small fraction of women who post on this board - and we tend to post what problems we had with them. The ones that were successful probably moved the f**k on with their lives and couldn't care less about posting! Sure, for many, for reasons not always explainable, bcps can and do cause hairloss, but for many more, bcps have been the first line of treatment. I bet Redmond has countless success stories of bcps helping AGA. Unfortunately, it's just not clear who's going to be helped and who isn

I didn't say that BCP's never result in success. I'm sure they have helped many people.

However, you rarely see many studies on JUST bcp's for the treatment of AGA, kwim? And on the boards (which I realize is not a scientific way to gauge), but the percentage of successes that came from BCP alone for AGA (not PCOS) are few.

All that aside, again, BCP's can alone, help some people, but for so many of us we need a little somthing extra in the mix. They are, howver, an important addition to the hair loss arsenal.

I do agree that many women who experience success leave and go on and never come back. I love you all , but it would be nice to have success and put all this out of my mind like a bad memory, KWIM? So i do understand that. I also think there are many women who never even make it to the boards and still have success

Delilah-
I know the studies all say that finasteride doesn't work in menopausal women, but I can't help but wonder if there has been a study where menopausal women have been on HRT and finasteide together.

i know HL in menopause it tricky because of the fluctuations in hormones, so I wonder if HRT combined with anti androgen therapy could produce a result?
