Depends. Are your cycles regular? Do you have PCOS? Thyroid issues? Menorrhagia? Are you sensitive to estrogen? Healthy otherwise?

You mentioned being particularly sensitive to mood changes, in which case a BCP taken continuously is theoretically the best option. But, sad to say, theoretically does not always directly translate to reality.

Regarding the above study, I bet some women benefitted from the BCP alone, others from Propecia alone, and still others from both. It is hard to say which is doing what. It really depends on the individual and the only way to know is to try it (how maddening). A former veteran of this board (Beta) used a high E BCP and attributed most of her success to that (she said she was always able to grow some of her hair back with the Pill), and not the 50mg of spiro she added to it. I wish the archives were all up and running so we could check back and see.

However, I have to say just based on what I've read the Pill loses efficacy after awhile, even in women for whom it works well. I don't know why that is. But there are soooo many as yet unidentified factors involved in female AGA that it's hard to say if the body chemistry changed or the Pill lost effect or both or something else.
