Hi Julie...Unfortunately, not one of us on these boards can definitively answer that question for you since we don't know exactly the hormonal composition of your particular physicality, and the physicians probably don't either. The reason certain rx's work for some and other rx's work for others is because w/ females, there are too many variables which come into play to contribute to our hl. I will post (or try to) an endocrinological report on female hyperandrogenism (which also includes sensitivity to said androgens w/out any other signs of virilism) which explains how many different androgens can be primarily responsible for the conditions of hyperandrogenism (including AGA, PCOS, etc.) and one can't always be certain whether the source of the most androgens is originating from the ovaries (which also produce T), the adrenals, or other glands. Therefore, for ex., if a woman's main source of T is her ovaries, the pill will help her because it shuts down the ovaries and infuses the body with the artificial E and P (not T) thereby diminishing the amount of T in her system. This is one reason many women gain weight on certain pills, if they have a fair amount of T being produced in the ovaries and suddenly on the pill that T is not present. However, if a women doesn't have a lot of T produced by her ovaries, but instead has her T mostly supplied by the adrenals, she may not see any benefit from the pill and indeed can have her situation exacerbated because then the adrenals will work double-time to make up extra T when the body senses one of its endocrine suppliers (the ovaries) has been shut down. However, we usually don't know exactly: a) all of the components factoring in to our own individual hl etiology, and b) the exact amount of certain hormones produced by all of the glands to tell us which hormones to tweak and how much!

Therefore, this is why our situation is so frustrating because our dx and rx are frequently hit-or-miss. This is ALSO why no one should have dogmatic statements on these boards of "what will definitely help" and "what one should definitely do." Sometimes you do just have to weigh the risk/benefit and dive in, but it is always beneficial to do one's OWN research on Google of MEDICAL articles because all of us on these boards, while well-intentioned and many of us are moderately knowledgeable, are lay people and we can only weigh in w/ our own fallible opinions and experiences. I will post imminently w/ the link if I can to that article.

Until then, Julie, good luck to you, girl....FG ;-)
