FG & EB -

Do you think that the problems you had with spiro are due to the fact that you started out at 100 mg per day vs. a lower dosage? I have been using spiro for 1 year at 25 mg per day and my Dr. recently bumped it up to 50 mg daily (25 am and 25 pm). I did have problems with my menstrual cycles (bleeding every 2 weeks), but learned that I had fibroids which were finally removed in June. EB - have you been checked for fibroids? I too thought my bleeding was hormonal, but as I said, it turned out to be fibroids.

Also, I am using naturally compounded bioidentical hormones after falling estrogen levels caused by going off pill (Demulen) combined with peri. I am using biest & progesterone together along with proscar (2.5 mg daily) and spiro. I am not cycling, but have some random spotting here and there.

I finally feel that I am having some success with my hl. I went to a new endo a few weeks ago who advised me that in light of all the havoc that the fibroids were wreaking on my system, I should start with June (when I had the fibroids removed) as the date from which to judge the efficacy of my treatment, as opposed to last December 2006 when I started the Proscar because the effectiveness of the treatments would have been compromised until my other problems were corrected. I would say that for the last month or so, my sheds have decreased somewhat (I've stopped counting) and I do have regrowth sticking up all around my head. Also, my texture is slightly improved. In answer to your previous question, EB, I have not been diagnosed by a doctor with AGA, but as I said, my internist aggressively treated my hl from the start.
