hair extentions on thinning hair (Wigs)

Hi, I am new to this site. I would appreciate any advice on how to style thinning hair. Has anyone tried hair extentions? Does it pull more hair out? Also, my highlights have grown out and my crown is black, but I am scared to go back for touch ups. Any suggestions?
