Can someone help me understand my shocking hair loss? (Accutane or Medications Induced Hair Loss)

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about your hair loss when your wedding is coming up soon. I too suffer from hair loss and don't know the cause yet. Mine started about 3 years ago, a year after my 3rd child was born. It would get better but then this past Aug., I had the worst hair fall ever. It slowed down some but my hair is so thin , I can't style the way I did before. I am more trying to cover up my scalp from showing through so much. I just got my highlights retouched so my hair does look better. If you have dark hair, try to lighten a bit as this will blend in with scalp and make the thinning less noticeable.
I have been to several doctors and have done so may tests that came back normal. Just like you, my pcp shrugs it off like its no major problem. My ferritn level however showed to be at 22. I don't really know what that means, but my pcp says that I shouldn't concern myself too much about ferritin levels and that it is inaccurate most of the time that doctors usually don't fuss with it. You get so much diff. info from diff. docs that you become so lost as what to do. I just try to go all natural, and eat as much fruit and veggies as possible. Try pomegranate juice, as I have noticed a decrease in hair fall in the last few days I have been on it. Persians have beautiful thick hair and they use alot of pomegranate fruit in their cooking--seems to be a link? Also, I would recommend taking biotin supplements as this is known to be good for hair. I also read today on another hair loss site, that using neem oil mixed with some lemon juice and olive oil to the scalp may help with less hair fall and any underlying fungal irritation if any. I also take a hair vitamin that contains zinc, copper, saw palmetto, stinging nettle, and b vitamins and amino acids. I also go to a trichologist once a week for laser therapy. I had been using hairmax laser comb last year and noticed some thickening since my part wasn't so noticable. As for bcp, my doc wants me to try. I think I will wait to see my hormone level tests to come in before trying anything new. I have read so much about more hair fall on bcp, that I'm scared to even try. I think for now, the best medicine is to laugh often - try to keep happy about your upcoming nuptials and take some time to do positive thinking for a few minutes without interruption. I know it sounds easier said than done, but we all have to start somewhere. Stressing over the hair may cause more fall. Eat healthy and congrats on your wedding.
