Spiro woes after quitting, help...help... (Propecia, Finasteride for Women)
Brief recap: 27 years old, AGA and TE for a little over a year, no PCOS (always regular periods with monthly ovulation), took spironolactone 150mg for 10 months when not having a period (when having a period, stopped spiro cold, and restarted once cycle finished, otherwise would not stop bleeding). In retrospect that was the worst idea ever, but I didn't know it at the time, I was elated at what it was doing for my scalp pains and skin. Months later, experienced intolerable side effects, so discontinued 1st of October. That was almost 2 months ago.
Now: nearly 2 months post-spiro, still bleeding erratically, get a period every 2(!) weeks. Yes, that's right, every 14-16 days, I get a period! I'm on my third or fourth period since I quit spiro in early October and about to go mad! I'm sure I'm having aovulatory cycles, when I've NEVER had this before (been on and off BCPs and always resumed normal ovulation like like nothing happened).
TSH went up 2+ points while on spiro from 1 to 3.5, so hypo, but probably not severely. Not sure what it is now.
Is it possible this kicked me into PCOS? All the bad hair fall is back, plus acne, oily skin, etc. so the spiro shouldn't even be in my system anymore. It has such a short half-life, it should've been gone ages ago, and now I'm worried it permanently damaged something.
Not sexually active at present so definitely not pregnant.
Put in a call to endo but not sure she will have anything to offer. I see her in 2 weeks.
I'd appreciate any thoughts!
