ť ť ť Anyway, I saw my endo last week and asked if I could try flutamide

ť ť ť from functioning via some sort of feedback from the pituitary
ť gland...

ť ť ť something like that). My endo agreed and put me on 250mg flutamide
ť twice

ť ť ť day; I started 3 days ago and have noticed no change (I stopped
ť ť everything
ť ť ť else). My skin is slightly oilier but no acne. I am losing the same
ť ť ť numbers of hairs in the shower (roughly 100) but the ratio between
ť ť ť terminal and miniturized hairs have changed - I am losing a lot more
ť ť ť miniturized hairs and less terminal hairs when I blow dry.

ť ť ť Just wondering if anyone has any experience... I'm really hoping my
ť ť ť periods will come back....

ť ť I haven't tried flutamide, just started dutasteride (avodart) a few
ť weeks
ť ť ago(and am on spiro and desogen). But like everything, I imagine it
ť will
ť ť be several weeks to months before you will really see any results from
ť it.
ť ť I think many women think they will see differences sooner, but from what
ť I
ť ť understand...the whole hair growing process is rather slow as far as
ť ť turnover and follicles being affected so it doesn't seem possible that
ť in
ť ť a few days you'd be feeling any effects..it likely would have happened
ť ť that way anyway. I know...it's so hard to be patient!! I feel like my
ť hair
ť ť has changed dramatically in the last few weeks and it feels so thin to
ť me
ť ť in the front. I have alot of miniturized hairs and alot that now poke
ť up
ť ť all over the place. I lose both terminal and miniturized still, but
ť mostly
ť ť the thinner hairs that are in the front.

ť I think this is quite a coincidence....

ť You, Sadie and I had/have all been taking some kind of Anti androgen and
ť we ALL have experienced the same thing!!! The front thinning and looking
ť miniturized QUICKLy over the course of treatment AND a lot of hairs poking
ť out that are coarser/darker/thicker in diameter) than the rest.

ť Now, how could all 3 of us have a negative reaction to anti androgens??
ť Or maybe its not negative but positive?? Maybe our hair is changing to
ť thicker hairs and the ones that were becoming miniturized (thin hairs in
ť diameter) are falling out faster that the new healthy ones can keep up
ť with, thus less density in the front? And notice its the areas most
ť effected by AGA that are changing..

ť Ladies, what do you think about what I have just said?

Bunnyheather~I see Dr. Redmond on the 11th and will mention the coincidence. However, for me, I am not convinced the new hairs poking up on my head are thicker, in fact I think they are miniturizing but I'm not certain. They are definitely not thicker, maybe the same if anything. I would think thicker would be a great sign! I suspect my frontal thinning would have occurred regardless because it was headed that way...I don't know that it's a response the the anti-androgens or not or just a pattern for me. Here's what I'm wondering...does one need something extra to thicken up the hairs affected by miniturization or will it happen on it's own once the effects of DHT are minimized and under control? It seems alot of women feel the need to use Rogaine to thicken them up.
