please help me! (Anti-depressants & Hair Loss)

Hi Kim,
I cant comment much on birth control since that we never my problem. I am 50 and just started losing with the drop in estrogen. There are many women on here that will be able to give you some advice with the birth control and losing hair over due to stopping it. Seems like many have lost due to that issue. I would think it is important to take the lithium for the BP disorder as it may become a bigger problem if you do not and I dont think you can just quit that cold turkey. I would definitely see the endo next month and tell him/her everything that has been going on including the lithium being stopped. Get all your levels checked like estrogen, testosterone, thyroid etc. Other posters will tell you what all you need to get tested.
Try to remember, you are certainly not alone in this. Seems like it right now but so many women on here can relate to you. You have to try to keep strong especially for your kids right now. YOu can get through this. Unfortunately its usually a long process. Ive been losing heavily for 8 months and have had some days of lighter shed. It takes hormones etc. time to adjust. It will not happen over night. I think the main worry of all of is is "are we going to be bald" Hopefully and most likely not but you do have to be persistent in the fight to find the answer. I never thought last June that I would still be experiencing this 8 1/2 months later but I am and with less than half my original amount of hair. Weve all lost some to a lot. Do your best to read on here and learn from posters. I wont say it isnt a tough road and for sure its not one any of us would have guessed we would have to deal with but there are some success stories. We've all cried ourselves to sleep at night and then some. Im sure you will receive some other feedback that will be helpful to you.
