Every doctor is different. For example, Dr. Cole would ask all female patients to go through all the blood tests before he would even consider doing a thorough consultation with her. If the diagnosis is Thyroid or other medical conditions, Dr. Cole will not do HT on her. He is pretty strict when it comes to female hair transplant patients.
Other doctors are a bit more lenient. Most would look at the following in determining if you are a good candidate or not:
1) Your age. Most doctors (the ethical ones) do not take on patients who are too young.
2) Your hair loss PATTERN. Generally speaking, doctors prefer to work on female patients who have distinct balding patterns rather than diffuse overall thinning.
3) Has your hair loss stablizied or are you still going through a phase of accelerated hair loss? Doctors prefer to work on patients whose hair loss has somewhat stabilized.
4) Your donor density. You must have sufficient donor density.
5) Your goals and expectations. Hair transplant is NOT a cure. It's basically redistribution of your existing hair. The patient has to be realistic with her goals and expectations. No hair transplant can give you your teenage density back.
