Alkaline Phosphatase levels (Telogen Effluvium)

posted by izzyj, 14.02.2008, 05:46

Going to book full blood tests for next week, mainly to see if ferritin level is up. Had to have blood tests two years ago for a mortgage and a question mark was put against my alkaline phosphatase levels. They were low. I didnt know what this was so did a bit of googling, and from what I understand a low level alkaline phosphastase indicates your body is not absorbing nutrients/vitamins/minerals properly. Basically it suggests malnutrition! A high level can indicate liver disease etc.

Just wondered if anyone else had had blood tests and had a low result for this. Again, it just seems to suggest that bad nutrition which can affect hair growth. If you are having blood tests done, maybe this result might be worth looking at too, in addition to iron levels etc. Dont understand why but I have read that stress can also affect absorbtion of nutrients too. Just a thought anyway!
