Wellbutrin XL and Diane 35 (Anti-depressants & Hair Loss)
Hi MissyGa. I just read your posting and signed on this site for the first time. I also have genetic hair loss. My mother and her sister have very little hair. My mother has worn a hairpiece her entire adult life and I have always feared that my time would come. I am 40 now and until recently I've had thin hair but I manage to make it look quite full. Two years ago, after my good friend suddenly passed away, I lost a lot of hair due to the trauma and after 4 months of rogaine, it grew back, even thicker at one point. About six months ago my Dr. increased my dose of Wellbutrin to 300mg not knowing it had side effects of hair loss. Around that time I experienced an emotional trauma and I've had a significant amount of hair loss over the past 3 months. I'm still using Rogaine but it doesn't seem to be working. I was told by my derm that the hair loss was due to the trauma but also could be genetic. He said Wellbutrin only posed a 1% chance of hairloss. I had no idea it was a significant side effect until I just read your posting! Could you tell me more? If the increased dosage of Wellbutrin did cause it, I will get off it immediately and try something else. I'd greatly appreciate your feedback! ~Tracy
