hair loss with low ferritin and Hashimoto's TO LIBBY (Thyroid Conditions & Hair Loss)

» Hi-
» I had the same issue and it turned out to be LOW COPPER. And by taking
» iron you continue to deplete your copper levels as the iron is
» antagonistic to the copper. And instead of iron anemia you could have
» copper anemia.
» Get a trio of serum copper, zinc, ferritin on your next blood test to see.
» Good luck!
» My hair is full & long again after YEARS of taking iron to no avail and
» now taking a small amount of copper every 3-4 days along w/a multi-vitamin
» which contains BOTH copper & zinc as they balance each other.

Libby - thanks for pointing this out. SO many vitamins and minerals can have a reaction with another and create a deficit of something else we need to grow hair. It's a mess. I have a bunch of mineral supplements and I rotate them a bit to try to keep things balanced. I didn't realize the copper and zinc could be done by a simple blood test. I've tested B12 and ferritin. I'm going to ask for that when I do my labs again just to make sure I am not messing my copper up while on iron.
