can diet cause 1 1/2 years of on going hair loss? (Diet & Hair Loss)

This is only my opinion but I think certain diets can trigger hair loss. I have heard of Atkins patients losing hair and I was on a diet for several months right before my hair loss started. It was not Atkins but it was a high protein low carb type of diet. I had also cut out red meat for 6 months before my hair loss started. I think it played some role in my case.

I will say that I have lost a very large amount of weight within a two week period (after giving birth) and I experienced no hair loss at all.
