Hey Betsy (Hair & Scalp Odor Problem)
» » I am of the opinion that my problem is hormone and thyroid related in

» Betsy, it sounds like your thyroid causes the smell when it goes out of

» I would guess that many of the problems here have to do with hormones in

Betsy,
If memory serves me correct, I remember earlier posts regarding thyroid problems being connected to this scalp odor. That just jogged my memory, as I believe my father had thyroid problems when he was about my age (early 20s). This thyroid problem may have effected me (I am a slender guy). There could very well be a connection between our hormones and this stench.
For my scalp regiment, I can go sometimes a week without washing my hair (though it does it oily). It seems that I have not smelled the yeasty odor on my scalp for a long time now (>1 year). Simply use Alberto VO5 shampoo and VO5 conditioner and I'm good. My hair gets washed once every 3 days.
What I think really started the turnaround was the use of the Jason's Dandruff every other day. Then I used the Jason's Jojoba shampoo every other day, alternating between the two. After a few months I was able to go back to conventional shampoos. This is definitely not a sales pitch...this is what worked for me.
I know there is a remedy for each and every one of us. Do not give up!
