I am in the NYC area as well. I saw Dr. Bergman (endocrinologist) who sent me for every blood/urine test possible. Then, he referred me to Dr. Reed in NYC (dermatologist). I liked both a lot. Reed doesn't take insurance but specializes in hair loss. Although I am still figuring this out, I would reccomend both.

ť In the last 4-5 months I experiences abnormal hair loss/thinning that
ť continues up to date. The hairs became brittle and easily come off the
ť scalp together with the bulbs. Lately I also feel constant irritation and
ť itchiness of the scalp even though I cannot see any redness. Plus,
ť sometimes the hair roots are really painful. I feel that my hair is now
ť half its previous volume. It looks lifeless and there is a bunch of hairs
ť every time I brush or just run my hand through it. Additionally, last
ť year was really stressful for me.I have experienced some seasonal hair
ť loss in the last 4 years but it was average and nothing abnormal like
ť now.
ť I haven't seen a doctor yet but I am looking for a dermatologist. Any
ť recommendations for a good one in NYC? Most of the info that I found
ť online on hair loss sounds to me like a rip off and/or advertising. And
ť also, what are the tests that I definitely should do - I read a lot about
ť hair analysis, scalp biopsy, hormonal tests, etc. I am really confused and
ť not sure where to start from. And the speed with which my hair disappears
ť is really scary.
ť Please help. I need your help and I will appreciate all opinions and
ť advices. Thank you.
