blood work up back (Thyroid Conditions & Hair Loss)
I think I saw these numbers on lef.ort (Life Extension):
Optimal ranges
TSH - 1.3-1.8
Free T4 - 1/2-1.3
Free T3 - 320-330
Free T3* - 3.2-2.3
*Some labs divide FT3 results by 100 thus 230 is the same as 2.3, etc
By these numbers, your TSH looks good, your T4 is higher than optimal, but well within range, but your T3 is low. T3 is the most important for growing hair, so your body might be having trouble converting T4 to T3
You might want to ask your doctor to lower your levoxyl and raise the armour or consider adding Cytomel (that might be too much). Also, consider taking 500-1000mg/day of L-Tyrosine. It helps the body normalize the all the different thyroid hormones. My Free T3 is up to 3.3, but my endo says sometimes it needs to be closer to 3.8-4.0 for some people to feel better, lose weight, grow hair. T3 is really the fuel in the cells and some people just don't convert T4 to T3 at a rate that maintains those things.
What are you doing for your adrenals? Do you know what your ferritin levels are yet? You also might want to consider testing for Vit D. Very important for thyroid function, hair and mood. A good level is in the low - mid 50's.
Hope this helps.
