» » Unfortunately Mayo clinic does not believe in the diagnosis of adrenal
» » fatigue.
» »
» » http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/adrenal-fatigue/AN01583
» » This is what it says -
» » Adrenal fatigue is a label applied to a collection of nonspecific
» » symptoms, such as body aches, fatigue, nervousness, sleep disturbances
» and
» » digestive problems. The term often shows up in popular health books and
» on
» » alternative medicine Web sites, but it isn't an accepted medical
» » diagnosis.
» »
» »
» .......................................................................................It's
» » frustrating to have persistent symptoms your doctor can't readily
» explain.
» » But accepting a medically unrecognized diagnostic label from an
» unqualified
» » practitioner could be worse. Unproven remedies for so-called "adrenal
» » fatigue" may leave you feeling sicker, while a treatable condition —
» such
» » as depression or fibromyalgia — continues to take its toll.
»
» Heh, tell me about it. I was a victim of an "adrenal fatigue diagnosis. I
» went to an alternative doctor (who was also an MD, so I thought I was in
» good hands). I was having among other things, severe anxiety. He diagnosed
» me with adrenal fatigue and said it wouldn't show up in blood work, so I
» should get a saliva test. I did, and according to him my DHEA was low (but
» it was really normal.) He sent me my results through the mail and told me
» to take a nutritional supplement and how convenient, I could pick it up at
» his store. It was DHEA. An adrenal steroid, not a NUTRITIONAL supplement.
» Otherwise known as an androgenic hormone that can cause effin HAIRLOSS. And
» so there my nightmare into AGA began. When I did get my DHEA levels
» checked, they were through the roof, and several endocrinologists later
» told me that saliva tests were not accurate. For me, that diagnosis of
» adrenal fatigue changed my life for the worse.

Holly what a nightmare. I remember another woman telling a story like that not from a HL board but one about skincare. I wish more women would realize that saliva tests sent through the mail are basically like spitting into the wind. If the site that's touting the saliva test is also selling it that should send all kinds of red flags up. All these sites where they're basically diagnosing your condition through saliva tests ..with adrenal fatigue and estrogen dominance being the two biggies..and then sell you the appropriate medicine based on their "very accurate" saliva test are mostly money making hoaxes. Their association with an MD is probably very remote, he also may not be board certified and could very well be a charlatan. If you must have a diagnosis or a reason why your hair is falling out these guys will be more than willing to sell you the answer. Women with HL are easy prey. Many women have spent years trying to get their ferritin up and trying to cure "adrenal fatigue" without a lot of success after spending thousands of dollars. If you need to have that diagnosis at least go to someone who'll do a blood test.
