ť I'm 56 years old. I had a hysterectomy when I was 32 years old and I've
ť been on HRT (1 mg Estrace)for 20+ years. This hair issue popped up four
ť years ago but before that, I had 'normal' hair. I just don't get this. My
ť thyroid is checked regularly and it is up and down, but that has been the
ť case for years and my hair never had issues. My thyroid was irradiated 25
ť years ago because I had Grave's disease. It drives me crazy when derms say
ť my hair is thinning due to age. So, according to that reasoning, anyone who
ť is over 50 is heading for baldness? Geez. I see lots of older women with
ť tons of thick gray and/or colored hair. I know my body and this isn't
ť right. My hair is coming out by the roots, literally. how can they say that
ť is normal!!

Hi Laura,

Maybe you should try a different HRT like Vivelle or Estrogel. You may need it tweaked a bit. Have your estradiol levels checked bc they need to be over 90 to keep the hair on your head. If they're lower than that it's most likely why you're losing your hair. I started to lose my hair after menopause with no problems ever prior to menopause.
