ť Are you saying that if you are in menopause your estradiol needs to be
ť above 90? I'm 46, experiencing some peri symptoms but still get my period
ť around every 28 days. The difference is that they are extremely heavy now.
ť Never like that before, probably one of the changes due to peri. Anyway,
ť my estradiol was 50 when I had it tested. My gyn didn't think it was a
ť problem but in the back of my mind I wonder if it's too low. What do you
ť think? Nomoresheds thinks I should try progesterone, which I'm still
ť considering, but I think they only prescribe that if you don't have any
ť more periods. Thanks for any info!!!

I'm in menopause and didn't experience any problems with my hair during peri at all, but I did have the heavy periods like you described. They were irregular, and usually around every 21-25 days.

In menopause I had no problems for the first couple of years and then I started to notice more hair everywhere...in the shower,clothes, and brush.

I had my estradiol checked right at the very beginning of the HL and it was around 92, but my levels were probably fluctuating wildly. After seeing 4 doctors I went to Dr Redmond in NYC. Dr Redmond explained that it's the fluctuation of estrogen in peri that causes the big problems with hair and that's usually when most women start to notice HL. Dr Redmond sometimes recommends women in peri go on BCP without stopping so they can get even levels of estrogen.

I was past that point and went on straight HRT, but if I were you I would read his book "It's your Hormones" it covers a lot of the problems with HL in Perimenopause.
