ferritin fluctuations (Telogen Effluvium)
I just got back from a new endo. He seems open minded and I liked him a lot. His wife is a derm, so they can combine efforts if necessary. I had copies of my blood tests from the last two years and I pointed out that my ferritin has gone from 53 in 2006 to 45 in 2007 to 25 a month ago. He was concerned about the downward trend and told me he wants me to see GI in case there is some internal bleed of some sort. I had a colonoscopy a year ago and it was normal. I also had a hemocult done when GYN did my pap. Now he has me freaked out that there is some internal bleeding of some sort. Have any of you had a downward fluctuation with your ferritin? If so, what did your doc say? Honestly, there is no peace of mind with this issue!!!! BTW, he thinks my thyroid is a definite part of the problem. Since I don't have any male hormonal shifts (from exam, not bloodwork) he really thinks my thyroid has been overtreated in the past and he has dropped my dose. He wants to see me once a week for a few months. At least SOMEONE is trying to follow this hair issue. I'm grateful for that. But, we'll see how it goes. Any thoughts on the decreasing ferritin levels would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
