to Sadie... (Rogaine, Minoxidil)

posted by nat, 09.06.2008, 13:22

Hi, I was reading through the forums and came across your entry. I am 32 and my hair is thinning. I noticed you are young as well. I am using Rogaine 5% and spiro (twice a day) and I take biotin vitamin. It is too early I guess to tell if anything is helping. I am going into my 5th month of spiro and it doesn't seem to help the shedding. The first three months I was on a low dosage and my derm just upped it. She said I could try advodart next if this didn't help. I am discouraged like a lot of us. If only my hair would stop shedding at least mentally that would help. I am wondering if the spiro is making it worse. What are you taking now? Have you come across anything that has helped?»

Chris - so glad to read you have regrowth all over! Gosh, how positive a
» result from Regaine. I hope that means it was a temporary HL situation, and
» that maybe the shed you are experiencing now is also going to fade and the
» regrowth continues, fingers X!
»
» I have tried meds - dianette, twice, which made things MUCH worse. My
» experience of it is similar to that of bunnyheaters.
»
» I've got my iron significantly up, taking Zinc supplements, spent years on
» indian herbal hair stuff/oils, saw palmetto, dianette, regaine 2% for 11
» months and now 5% for 9/5 months. Ummmm...am at a loss, and to be honest,
» so was my last derm who couldnt figure 5hit out. I have menopausal hair
» loss kicking in from the age of 26...now am 30. This ISNT NORMAL FFS!
»
» Am just so down. I have this week off as leave from work, and i'm spending
» it with family/friends, but i'm even more obsessed now. I'd much rather be
» at work getting my mind away from it all. I cant enjoy even the simple
» things i once did.

» » Hi Sadie,
» » Well, I have regrowth all over. But I'm not sure if it's because of
» the
» » Rogaine or not. I started in July of '07 so almost a year for me too.
» My
» » problem now, once again, is an increase in shedding which I thought
» Rogaine
» » was supposed to keep low. I'm thinking my hl might be due to low
» estrogen
» » since I'm in peri, so I'm going to start the pill as soon as I get my
» » period. Mixed emotions about that because it is my last and final hope
» for
» » recovery. If it doesn't work, I don't know what I will do. Then if it
» » does work, how do I get off the Rogaine? Psychologically, I can't
» survive
» » any kind of dread shed. I'm having anxiety attacks about the shed I'm
» » having now!!!
» » Sadie, I'm really sorry you're not seeing any results from Rogaine. I
» » keep reading different things about Rogaine. Some say it grows hair.
» Some
» » say it only prevents you from losing any more hair. And some say it
» only
» » thickens and strengthens the hair you have, so who knows. Sorry that I
» » don't remember, but are you taking any meds? If not, maybe it's time
» to
» » consider that. Hang in there!!! I feel your pain.
