ť I saw some old photos of myself the other day - a ton of hair! I could
ť have been in a bloody hair advert, it's sickening. I'd like to show those
ť old photos to Dr Rushton to prove it's not all 'in my head'.
ť I don't actually shed very much at all, which to me, is more worrying.
ť The hairs I do shed are all lengths, including really short ones, which is
ť not a good sign. My hair always seems to have this annoying 'fuzzy halo'
ť look to it.
ť I'm on Dianette still, with 50mg CPA for the first ten days of the cycle.
ť While my hair is, I suppose, 'stable', there doesn't appear to be any
ť significant regrowth either. In fact, on some days, it looks worse than
ť when I started treatment, I think. I also continue to supplement with iron
ť and B12, as I believe the meds bring these levels down if you're not
ť careful (the CPA drains your body of B12 and interferes with ferritin). I
ť know my ferritin had fallen back down to 47 from 65 when I was last
ť checked. Even with taking iron! When I rang Dr R he told me I obviously
ť wasn't taking it properly, it should always be on any empty stomach (I've
ť got a good appetite most of the time, so my stomach is rarely empty!). I'm
ť tempted to stop all treatment and let nature take it's course. He only ever
ť 'had a rummage' through my hair, and said he didn't agree with the NHS derm
ť I saw that it was female pattern baldness. He didn't do a proper test on
ť the follicles. What do you think I should do? I don't like pumping my body
ť with crap for no reason, as I've seen no results at all. Who can give me
ť some answers and point me in the right direction? When I've spoken on the
ť phone to other trichologists and asked for their opinion, they seem less
ť knowledgable than him if anything; they all have a lot of respect for him.

Apologies, I thought i also replied to this one. May be i answered to the wrong person. Have you got a formal diagnosis ? I got a biopsy and was formally diagnosed with AGA. I was thinking about the CPA....my understanding is is that it suppresses your ovarian production, more specifically tampering with estrogen levels. I remember when I started shedding majorly on this after four months, I think it was Bea who believed it was around estrogen. I want to try going down this route. Just not sure who to go to. Want to try out an endo. Have done with one already but it felt like he was to naturopath and money draining. I know its not a great option pumping your body with other tablets, etc, but for me, if it means cutting down on the despair, i'd take that route. Its an individual choice though isnt it. Im not impressed with trichologists...........i think an endo is probably the best bet with a good derm. Steph have tried Dr Martin Wade (private derm)? Dont know, just thinking about options for you. I think you need to keep taking the iron pills.....ferograd c.........it has added vit C which assits the iron to be absorbed quicker. Never mind that individual trich. He's looked me in the eye with laughter on several occasions telling me its all in my head and its not AGA. I get very very very angry just rethinking about it. silly man.
